The Numnutz then celebrate 10 years of winter swimming the following weekend with a contingent of 13 Wollongong Whales coming down for the anniversary party at O’Briens Hotel on Saturday night, May 20 – anyone with any connection to the club is invited to attend.
Meanwhile, the Bermagui Blue Balls - winter ocean swimming at its coolest - commences its fifth season at 9am at the Blue Pool.
“Owing to Prince Philip's recently announced retirement from public duties due to ill health the BBB are on the lookout for a new Patron. Prince Philip's health decline allegedly coincided with the many extra tasks bestowed upon him when awarded of an Australian knighthood,” swimmer Robert Johnson said.
“The benefits of winter swimming are many, varied and well documented. So if you want to avoid early retirement come and join us for an invigorating swim every Sunday morning for the next 18 weeks."
Club founder Gary Pearse said this was not fake news! Swimmers would gather to demonstrate against high water temperatures and global warming, he said.
The demonstration will be followed by tea/coffee and chilli soup/beer at the Bermagui Hotel.
