The Narooma Lions AFL Club had every team playing in Pambula on the weekend. Seniors travelled done to the large Pambula Oval on Saturday for the top of the table clash against the Panthers is what may be pre-curser to finals action later in the year.
The Panthers jump away to an early lead and they continued to switch the play at every opportunity causes the Lions to be chasing players. After Qtr time the Coach Mick Clothier got the players to be more accountable and tighten up and stop the loose play.
This then set up an epic battle for the remaining day. At end of the 3rd Qtr the Lions were down by 16 points but had belief they still could win. The Lions were under pressure initially, and then a big momentum shift happened and Jordon, Jason and Red starting pushing the ball forward. Simon and Haydon (celebrating his 18th B’day) hung on to a few strong marks and kicked some great goal to narrow the margin down to 1 point.
The Boys never got in front, but fought out a fantastic tussle to fall short by the narrowest of margins. Our boys had a huge last quarter but just missed out on the chocolates. Birthday boy Hayden Lang was great kicking a couple of magic goals.
