Safety will soon be improved for motorists on the Princes Highway at Narooma with work continuing this week and next week to resurface almost one kilometre of road.
A Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said the NSW government has allocated $500,000 for work to be carried out north of Narooma Bridge from north of Raymond Street to Riverview Road.
“Work involves repairing and resurfacing around 800 metres of the Princes Highway and replacing a section of guardrail along the road to improve safety for motorists,” the spokesperson said.
“Work will be carried out on weekdays between 7am and 5pm until Friday, June 30, weather permitting.
“Some residents located within the work area may experience short delays accessing their property during work hours, while every effort will be made to minimise the impact of noise on nearby residents.”
Sections of Centenary Drive and Raymond Street will be temporarily closed next week for the safety of workers and motorists.
“Centenary Drive will be closed between the Princes Highway and Williamson Drive, and Raymond Street will be closed between the Princes Highway and Bellbird Lane during work hours from Monday, June 19 to Friday, June 23,” the spokesperson said.
“Access to other side streets in this section may also be restricted at times while the road is being resurfaced and information about these detours will be signposted.”
While repairs are made to the guardrail there may be some equipment and workers located near the footpath.
One lane will be closed to traffic during work hours with alternate traffic flow and a reduced 40km/h speed limit in place.
Motorists should allow up to five minutes extra travel time during work hours.
