Two boxers from the Narooma PCYC Boxing Club travelled to Broulee last Saturday to train with legendary Australian boxing champion Ken Bradley.
Ken was the Australian lightweight champion in 1970. He trained and sparred with Australian boxing royalty Lional Rose and Johnny Famachon, and trained for all his professional fights in his shed in Broulee.
Today Ken, who is now 70ish, still trains himself and coaches young fighters, including Callum Duncan and Jake Jamison of the Narooma PCYC Boxing Club.
“We were stoked to have Ken give us some of his time and pass on some of his extensive knowledge to the boys,” coach Scott Wharfe said.
Narooma PCYC boxer Jake Jamieson is having his third fight in September and Ken has offered to assist in his development.
The PCYC boxing club will hold a fundraiser this Sunday at the Obrien’s Hotel, during the Geoff Horn/Manny Pacquiao fight, from 11am.
Get down there and watch a young Australian fighter have a crack against one of the all time greats of boxing in front of 50,000 people.
