
The Narooma Junior Devils’ ‘Mighty Minis’ hit the ground running Saturday morning to be there to start their games at 9am in Pambula and again they did not disappoint.
Both coaches praised their little champions for their team work and enthusiasm both in attack and defence. Eddies ‘Milo Award’ went to Kordel Holzhauser while Thomas ‘The Tank Engine’ Hudson received the nod from Nigel.
Robert’s U8’s had to contend with an extremely strong Pambula team but showed great team spirit to contest every play to the last tackle. Player of the Round was James Wearne.
The scored games began with Nigel’s U9’s giving their normal entertaining game with their tenacious defence and hard hitting attack. Aiden Tyrrell was awarded ‘Best on the Day’ but all of these boys play impressive games, final score was a 30–24 win.
Mod League Tag continued on their winning way with a 36-0 score for Kate. They are methodical in the way they defeat their opposition with Jane Hudson claiming Best on the Day but any one on this team would send parent’s home proud of their efforts.
Pambula again fielded a strong U10’s team with Andrew’s boys up for the challenge with both teams trading tries.
This game went right down to the wire with Devils crossing with about three minutes to go to gain a 28-22 victory. An outstanding game with Sam Patmore awarded top honours in what was for spectators a great game.
Junior Devil’s U12’s are a team with an enormous amount of talent and with concentrated coaching from Ross this was to be a game highly anticipated by all involved and in the first half it most definitely did not disappoint.
Going to the break they led 22-6 in a dominant display that was a pleasure to watch. Second half became a ‘nail biter’ with Pambula being let off the hook ending in our boys holding on to a 26-22 win. Noah Martin again all class, a unanimous decision from this sides coaching staff.
International Girls League Tag showed their superiority on the day to defeat Pambula 26-6 with Scott pleased with their efforts on the day and all girls voted Chelsea Laurie their top player.
With players side lined through injury from Rep. Games, U14’s had to dig deep with all players to find that extra something and put in a ‘whole team’ effort if they were to contain an injury free Pambula.
Every player on this team came away proud of their efforts in this game and were congratulated by Craig for a resounding win 50-16 but it was their commitment to their team mates that impressed their coaching staff. Player of the round went to Brody Rixon-Gosh.
Day ended with the U16’s in a clash worth staying to witness in quite cold conditions. Paul’s boys certainly did not disappoint with 100 per cent commitment to dominating their Pambula opponents.
With a Half Time score of 10-4 Devils built on this to finish the game 28-4 winners. Liam Sweeney giving all to achieve this win and awarded Player of the Round.
A sensational day for Narooma winning all seven games scored on the day, well done to all involved.
Next week all day Saturday, will be fireworks when Batemans Bay travel to Narooma to play on Bill Smyth Oval providing strong opposition to all of our Devil Teams, not to be missed!
