Narooma Nightmares vs Barreling Waves: What a cracker of a game this was to watch! The Nightmares shot goal for goal and were 9 points apiece at the first break. Hollie was outstanding in GK with well- timed intercepts and great rebounds, Teagan was a little pocket rocket in Centre, running the court like a whippet, and Jemma’s shooting was inspirational.
Elli also displayed her shooting talent along with her exceptional ability to just keep offering up, again and again, anywhere on the court. Emily proved challenging for the opposition in WD, and turned the direction of play our way. Anna put in a fiery effort as usual and stayed on her feet (thank goodness), and whilst in GD played an integral part in stopping the opposition from scoring. Our captain, Piper finally played in her favourite position, WA. She showed good skill with her intercepts, jumping for the ball and coming up with it, surprising herself and the opposition.
During the next two quarters the girls played different positions and although all continued to play well, it just didn’t have the same aura as the first quarter. So, in the final 15 minutes we went back to our first quarter magic, but it wasn’t quite enough. The Nightmares were defeated 38-26.
The Narooma Shooting Stars played an excellent game against the Narooma Nova’s. Claire was our captain this week but was unfortunately injured within the first 5 minutes of the game. Lily, Chloe and Topaz delivered some excellent defence against the other Narooma girls with some great passes in between. Emily, Meah and Bridie were superstars in Centre as they did some fantastic passes and were in the right place at the right time. Libby was amazing in Goal Attack in the first quarter, scoring some goals.
