The new playground and kitchen at the Narooma Toy Library and Mum’s Cafe at St Paul's Anglican Church was officially opened on Friday, July 21.
The Rev. Carol Wagner, Archdeacon for the coast, said just over a year ago, the Narooma Toy Library and Mum’s Cafe was given a $10,000 grant from the IMB Community Foundation to build an outdoor playground.
This welcome donation was put to good use, and the Toy Library and Mum’s Cafe now had an inviting and secure outdoor playspace, she said, and there was also a sunny deck where the adults could sit and watch the fun, while enjoying their coffee.
“It’s been a good community builder,” Rev. Wagner said. “We’ve got a Sri Lankan mum who didn’t know anybody. It’s a welcome retreat for young families and there has been some real bonding going on and with families now doing things outside of playgroup.”
At the grand opening of the playground, as well as the new kitchen, on Friday there was a sausage sizzle, free coffee and home baked goodies, and a chance for the children to road test the playground.
Now that school holidays are over the Mainly Music program is back at the Narooma Anglican Church, so folks can bring their toddlers to Mainly Music on Fridays at 9.30am for music, stories, games, fun and food. Everyone is welcome.
Also on Fridays, the Toy Library and Mum’s Cafe is then open from 10.30am to 12noon.
