The Flames played the Broulee Bombs and the first quarter was a strong performance by both teams with a 4-3 lead to the Flames.
A special mention about our newest team member this year, Sarah Mead, who, performs with enthusiasm, tenacity and continues to improve each week.
In the second quarter the Flames employed some great set plays, driving passes and intercepts with Layla Atkins and Clarinda Stewart keeping the Broulee Bombs scoreless and the Flames extending their lead by half time to 14-3.
In the second half, Melissa Cafe (coach and tactical extraordinaire) changed Layla from GD to GS, the girl can shoot!! The combination of Milana and Layla provided a formidable force within the goal circle. It was enjoyable to watch Erin and Sarah Spooner becoming more involved in the play and start to intercept passes with more confidence – well done girls. The Flames continued to advance their lead to a 35-8 victory.
The Narooma Novas had another great game in a local Darby with Bodalla. Grace made some outstanding passes and was always finding space, Sarah was jumping for lots of intercepts, Anwen as usual was accurate under the net with the man of the match award extremely hard to pick, it had to be shared between Cerys and Sarah. The whole team played beautifully.
This week, the Narooma Nightmares played against the Bodalla Bombshells. The Nightmares took time before the game to un-jinx the netball post from last week.
The first quarter displayed both teams going goal for goal almost, but as the respective quarters progressed, Bodalla gained more and more points, leaving the Nightmares well behind with the score finishing up at 56-30.
The Nightmares have still not won a game this season, but each week they turn up and they give it their all. They should be proud of their determination and commitment.
The captain for this week was Sienna…she also received a voucher from the Ice Creamery for “Best player”. Sienna was absolutely outstanding from the beginning of the game until the end. Congratulations Sienna!
This week, the Narooma Shooting Stars were in round 10 and versed the Tuross Tim Tams. Topaz was our captain this week and she played beautifully in Centre and was a superstar, scoring her first goal! Congratulations Topaz! Emily, Libby and Bridie played awesome in Centre and each had a go at shooting. Meah, Lily and Claire played amazing in both attack and defence.
A big congratulations to Lily who was awarded a gift voucher for ‘player of the week.’ This week’s award was for the best pass into the circle. While many of the girls did great passes and some great intercepts, Lily caught our eye with quick, short and sharp passes. Unfortunately, Chloe couldn’t make it as she was sick. All of the girls played great and got to eat oranges at half time and Tim Tams when we had finished! They should all be very proud of themselves.
Narooma Seahorse’s do it again with a convincing win over St Peter’s NSG. The whole team played amazingly and are showing great skill improvement. The girls shooting was a little hit and miss however with a score in the 20’s they cannot be doing too bad. The teamwork and plays are just phenomenal and the girls seems to be picking up tactical play from the professionals, so well done. Overall, a great game as the Seahorses continue to impress us all.
