A record number of new and returning members registered at Narooma Surf Club’s Open Day and registration last Sunday, making the club confident of another successful and fulfilling season at the beach keeping or residents and visitors safe in the surf.
The Surf season for Narooma commences on Saturday, November 4 with Narooma’s main Surf Beach being patrolled by volunteers on weekends and public holidays from then until the last weekend in April 2018.
Several junior members have also upgraded their Senior Rescue Certificates for Bronze Medallions and will join patrols for the season.
The Nipper program returns to the beach on Sunday, November 5. Prior to this the annual pool proficiency swimming test will be held next Saturday, October 21 at Narooma pool between 10am to 12noon.
The popular confidence building board training program, which is an additional value added activity for Nippers commences on Friday, October 27 at Bar Beach. This has proven very successful in past seasons and builds real confidence and skills for our junior members on boards in the water.
Patrolling members are asked to requalify over the next three weeks in preparation for the season ahead. Friday evenings, commencing this Friday, October 20, from 5.30pm the clubhouse will be open for members to come along and complete there requal in first aid, CPR, radios, signals and if conditions are favourable their run swim run as well.
All members are invited to come along on Friday nights from 5.30pm with the barbecue operating and the bar open. Come along and watch our patrollers go through their paces, enjoy a cold drink and feel free to have dinner with us.
