Round 2 of the Far South Coast Cricket Association saw the Division 1 Pirates hosting last year’s premiers Merimbula and Division 2 heading to Bega.
After a tough start to the season for the Division 1 side last week all players were intent on getting the result this week. Southern Eurobodalla won the toss and sent Merimbula in and it wasn't long before B. Conner took the first wicket of the game.
Some good partnerships for Merimbula and wickets to S. Young (3/36) and M. Klose 2/20 saw Merimbula reach 9/155 from their 40 overs.
Merimbula struck with two early wickets before S. Mackie (85 no) produced a great innings assisted by D. Friskin (17) and S. Young (18 no) to chase down the total with 6 wickets and 9 overs remaining.
With quite a few changes to the team sheet, Division 2 headed to Bega. It was another tough at the office for the Pirates with Bega batting first and getting to 3/220 with a brilliant 123no to L. Sims.
The Pirates run chase started reasonably well with M. Stonehouse (29), T. Mikolic (27) and D. Sweet (23) before new Div 1 recruit B. McIntosh got going and ended with figures of 5/9.
Next week Division 1 have a bye round for the Burns Cup. Good luck to Nick Mason who has been selected from Southern Eurobodalla to represent the FSCCA. Division 2 will head to Tathra.
This Friday night will also see the start to the junior season, so if any players are interested in playing under 12's, 14's or 16's it's not to late, get down to Dalmeny Oval this Wednesday from 3.45pm to 5pm.
