The clinic, the first of its kind in the Eurobodalla, will run from 3pm to 5pm.
Golf is one of the few sports that encourages people of differing abilities to play together, making it an ideal way for people with a disability to connect with the wider golfing community.
Founder James Gribble explained why golf is such a powerful tool for disabled people.
“When you look at golf, it’s the only sport with a unique handicap system, which means people can compete against each other regardless of age, gender, or ability,” he said.
At these clinics, Empower provides adaptive equipment for a wide range of disabilities.
This adaptive equipment includes the ParaGolfer (a specialist all-terrain wheelchair that not only enables access to virtually all areas of a golf course, but also raises wheelchair users into a standing position to allow a more conventional golf swing).
“I’m a quadriplegic myself, and I went through a fairly intensive rehabilitation process myself,” he said.
“When I looked around the landscape of golf in Australia, there wasn’t a lot of support for disabled people.”
Come and Try Golf clinics are not restricted to former players disabled through accident or injury, anyone wanting to try a new activity in a fun, professional environment is encouraged to attend.
