Narooma’s Surf Beach saw the flags go up for the start of the patrol season last Saturday and our mighty Nippers had their first day on Sunday.
The beach will now be patrolled by its surf club volunteers until the end of April every weekend and Public holiday.
17 newly qualified Bronze Medallion and SRC members will join the patrol ranks, having just completed their training and graduating in time for the new season.
The club raised the flag to start the new season after receiving a generously donated brand new flag pole and Australian Flag from RSL Sub Branch members Paul Naylor and Jon King.
The flag flies proudly when patrols are underway and doubles up as a regal windsock.
The pole is also the centre piece for Australia Day celebrations which are held at the Surf Life Saving Club each year.
The Narooma Nippers will hold a beach day every Sunday for the month of November, as well as Board training on Fridays.
