Dalmeny Women

It was another fine Dalmeny day when we welcomed a visitor, Wilma from Yass.

Winners were Eunice Drake and Sylvia Barman who shared the lead position, second Maureen Nankervis and skip Maureen McKenzie, with Lee Lewis, Lyn Goldsmith and Lyn Dunbar as runners-up.

Pat Cameron was closest to the spider and Jan Jones scored the first resting toucher. Well done to all bowlers.

We do send a sincere get well message to Gail Farrell whose organisational skills were missed as well as her company.

Congratulations to Gabby Cheel and Lucy Gresty who celebrated birthdays.

Diary dates coming up include:

District Veteran’s Day on December 5.

The last day of bowls for 2017 on December 12, a Christmas mufti fun day.

The Christmas party at Tilba Winery on December 13 with Santa making an appearance.

The Presentation dinner-dance on December 20 when we can dance till we drop, not literally of course.

There is always good bowling and good cheer happening at Dalmeny, the friendly club.

Dalmeny Men

Monday’s fine clear weather had 30 bowlers out on the green with the usual fickle winds.

Secret ends decided the winners on 14 in Packman Ace, Cobber Peter and Punter Alan from the runners-up on 9 in Browny, Hottie Smith and gospeller Bob.

Birthday boy Snoopy Leigh took out the first resting toucher but the $100 jackpot was not won.

Wrong bias sinners included Bob PD and Violin playing comic’s boy Kenny while the raffle prizes went to the birthday boy Leigh, punter Alan, Daryl Badrim and Ian East-off.

Thursday weather started off well but stormed over before ending play 3 ends before the normal 21st end.

Lucky rinks decided the winners on rink 12 in Packman Ace, Snoopy Leigh and cobber Peter from the runners-up on rink 9 in Margaret Joiner, Cobber Dudley and the Goose.

No resting toucher was recorded nor was the $132 jackpot won.

Wrong bias sinners included Richard Bad-rim (2) and visitor Brian Binglee.

The raffle winners were as usual Mayoress Olwyn, Hi-ain’t MacGregor, Ex.PM Neil, Hook-ara Wort, Dudley and Graham or Brett.

Friday twilight bowls saw 14 willing players out on what turned out to be a great night for bowls.

The winners were the triples combo of John Verr-L4leather, Graham or Brett and the Goose from the runners-up Brawling Frank and postie Joe with the Bodalla Hippie Sticks prize going to Kim or Howard and Sienna Marg.

Hoping again for great weather next week so get your names in early by 4.45pm Friday please to help organiser Dipper Ron with the cards and if your name is down and you can’t make it, ring the club, earliest please.

Jeff Loudon (AKA Soft-off) is in Estia Health Dalmeny retirement village for respite in room 34 and would like a visit from members to catch up on all the latest.

Social Bowls Winners Circle.

Wednesday. 22-11- 2017.

Well there will be no bragging about there being 46 bowlers this week, as there was only 40 nominations, that is still a good roll-up.

The winners on the day were decided by the team with the lowest winning score, with that team consisting of Neville Cork, Errol Coles & Al Pye 18 shots, by 1 shot over Don Caldwell, Peter Hawker & Jon King with 17 shots.

Runners-up were John Downie, Gerry Harvey & Jerry Simmons, 21 shots, over Tony Fryer, John McNamara & Ian Smart 15.

Earliest resting toucher award went to Ray Gale, with his resting toucher at 1249hrs.

In what turned out to be a very hard fought out match, the Dixie Dean Trophy played & won by Alan Chisholm, Rod Holman & Peter Jones, who after sitting nicely with only ends to go, gave away 6 shots on the second last end, meaning they had to win the last end to walk away with the Dixie Dean Trophy.

Win the last end they did to deny the team of Garry Evans, Paul Read & Greg Ryan victory, by just 1 shot, by scoring 23 shots to 22 against. Well done Alan, Rod & Peter.

Saturday. 25-11-2017.

A good roll- up of bowlers once again, & good to see as well, 24 in total (6 rinks pairs).

The winners on the day were decided by the pairing with the lowest winning margin & that pair were Alan Chisholm & Peter Jones (again) 18 shots, a shot margin of 5 over Tony Fryer & Peter McKay 13 shots.

Runners-up were Graham Cummins & Brian Seaman, 21 shots, a shot margin of 6 over R. Treblecore & Dennis Maggs 15 shots.

The Jack-Pot Joker lucky rink draw was carried out to determine the winning skip on that rink who would cut the deck of cards in an attempt to turn up the JOKER & claim the $440 Jack-Pot, but was only able to come up with the Jack of Diamonds, so it is on again next week worth $460 & 1 less card in the pack.

Sunday. 26-11- 2017.

Christmas in November Joes Special Mixed bowls had 18 bowlers (3 rinks triples) come along to see if they may be able to walk away with some early Chrissy presents.

The winners on the day were decided by lucky rinks, & those winners were Darryl Goodridge (Son belong a Kevin) Joe Halsey & Shirley Pilgrim 15 shots over Clare Cork, Pam Grant & Jean Voss 14.

Runners-up were Cindy Newell, Pat Wood & John McNamara over Neville Cork, Isabelle Halsey & Maureen Nankervis.

Anyway the real Christmas is just around the corner, so those who missed out on a present now have got another chance then.

Novice Singles Final.

As the name implies novice is for those who have been playing for short while.

The winner of this event was Peter Dillon (a very talented bowler) with 25 shots, over another up & coming in Darryl Goodridge 17 shots. Well done Peter; keep persevering Darryl.

Narooma Women

Triples and pairs games were played at last Tuesday’s social bowls. Before heading on to the green Merrie Downie was all smiles after winning the 50 Club, while Pat Wood was the lucky raffle winner.

Eventual game winners for the day played pairs on rink 11, where Marg Naylor and Mavis Hardy (skip) combined against Pam Grant and Bev Bowater (skip).

After a close start Pam and Bev held the advantage after nine ends, then Marg and Mavis found an extra gear to win a few in a row, before going on to claim the match.

After presentation night on Friday there are only two more Tuesday bowls days for this year, so ladies please put your name down for our Christmas break-up day activities.

Narooma RSL Bowls

Friday 24th of November saw a good turnout of eager bowlers enjoying a great afternoon of bowls.

The winners, with the Margy’s draw of highest winning margin were Bill Wilton, Pam Grant and Peter McKay (skip) who started strongly to lead 14 to eight after 11 ends and continued their fine form to take their match 26 to 12 against Auralia Robinson, Margaret Naylor and Barbara McNamara (skip).

The next RSL Bowls day is Friday, December 15, so put your name down now as, unfortunately, this will be the last RSL Bowls day.
