Every year the Woodies collects food cans and other foodstuffs from their members for the Salvos Christmas Appeal.
This year the club collected more than 250 items and Ben Knight from the Salvation Army drove down from Batemans Bay to collect the cans and to thank the club for its efforts. He then joined the club members at the Christmas barbecue.
Special guests at the barbecue included Narooma Sporting and Services Club president Graham Reeve and Club Narooma general manager Tony Casu.
Club Narooma has been a major supporter of the Narooma Woodies and they recently helped the club buy a portable chainsaw mill which will enable the club to cut more of their own timber.
Mr Reeve and Mr Casu inspected the mill and some of the club's other equipment before enjoying a couple of sausage sandwiches.
Club secretary Jeffrey Davidson paid tribute to to the support the club has received from the Narooma district over the nearly 30 years of the club's existence.
Mr Davidson said that it was only through the donations of timber, equipment and other items over the years which has enabled the club to survive.
The club participates in the monthly Narooma Markets which is organised by Narooma Rotary.
Mr Davidson said that the market provided a useful point of community contact and enables the club to display and sell its wares which provides a useful source of income.
The meat for the barbecue was donated by the Narooma Meat Centre on the Flat, which has also been a long time supporter of the club.
