Hot, dry and windy conditions are expected to develop over much of NSW on March 18 ahead of a trough and associated cold front.
A severe fire danger rating has been issued for the Far South Coast, including the Illawarra/Shoalhaven.
According to the NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS), as of 2.30pm, there were 27 bush and grass fires burning in NSW, with 17 being uncontained. Two fires in the Bega Valley at Reedy Swamp and Northview Close remain at a Watch and Act alert level.
In a Total Fire Ban, no fire may be lit in the open and all fire permits are suspended. This includes incinerators and barbecues (BBQ) which burn solid fuel, e.g. wood, charcoal or heat beads. No general purpose welding, grinding, soldering or gas cutting can be done in the open.
Residents are advised to action their Bushfire Survival Plan and contact 000 (triple zero) in an emergency.
