A field of 119 players teed off in the Stableford competition in fine conditions with a resultant DSR of a consistent 72.
In A Grade Scott Kennedy showed positive signs of returning to his ever consistent form with the best score of the day of 41 points off his handicap of 13 to win by 4 points from Mark Anderson.
One point further back on 36 points a countback awarded third place to Bob Piper ahead of Bill Hannam, Scot Ker and Colin Holmes.
B Grade was taken out by a recuperated Chris Eardley when he scored 40 points off his handicap of 21. Graeme Donohoe and Ray Gale filled the minor placings with 38 and 37 points respectively.
In C Grade Kevin Evans from Ryde-Parramatta came out on top with 38 points off a handicap of 27, two better than Jim Jones and three better than John Hasler. The nearest-the-pin winners were Colin Holmes on 3, Paul Stokes on 9, Andrew Thompson on 14 and Bob Knipler on 17, while the ball competition went down to all on 33 points.
SATURDAY, MAY 19
Only 106 players turned up for the third round of the Stableford competition where the DSR was again a consistent 72.
In A Grade Bill Durnan came out on top with 37 points off his handicap of 6 to win on countback from Geoff Lanham. Phil Haynes filled third place with 36 points on countback from John Bailey from Cumberland.
In B Grade Hal Fraser returned to form with 39 points off a handicap of 20 to win by one point from Paul Davey. Tony Hunt took third position with 37 points on countback from Callum Annand and Gary Leahy.
In C Grade Lorraine Dean recorded the best score of the day with 40 points off a handicap of 36 to win easily from Robert Dunn on 35 points.
A countback determined the third place for John Hasler on 34 points with Brian Murray, Richard Bodell and Darlene Vanderkemp from Belmont missing out.
The nearest-the-pin winners were Bob Knipler on 3, Scott Kennedy on 9, Peter Jones on 14 and Bill Durnan on 17 while the ball competition again went down to all on 33 points.
SUNDAY, MAY 20
A pleasing field of 36 players competed for the annual Bill Borlaise Trophy, a mixed Fourball event of long standing in the club's calendar.
The winners this year with 45 points were Lindsay Madsen and Bec Smart followed by Alex Gardner and Margaret Brown on 44 points. The nearest-the-pin winners were Greg Riley on 3 and Margaret Brown on 17, while the ball competition went down to all on 42 points.
Narooma Ladies
On Monday, May 14 the Ladies played a 3 person Ambrose and the winners with a score of 63 were Jenny McIntyre, Deidre Landells and Tina Wilson. Runners up were Jan Boxsell, Chris Fader and Sylvia Donohoe with 66 2/3.
Balls went to Bec Smart, Heather McMillan and Trish James on 68.
Wednesday, May 16 was the NSW Bowl Event where the Ladies played a 4BBB Stableford.
The Division 1 Winners were Di Wilkes and Maddie Robinson with 45 points. Division 2 Winners were Bec Smart and Ann Durnan with 47 points. Balls went to 41 points.
Tuross Head Men
Tuross Head Country Club were able to complete their men’s golf championships last weekend, although the event had to be reduced to a competition of 36 holes held over two rounds on Saturday and Sunday May, 19 and 20.
Played in ideal conditions, on a well prepared course, Leigh Coloe emerged as the club champion with a scratch score of 145 strokes with Aaron Monopoli finishing as runner-up with 148.
B grade scratch winner was Raginald Apps with 177 points and C grade scratch winner was Richard Kelly with 185 strokes.
Overall championship net winner went to Michael Kermode, who played consistent golf over the two days, and returned a net score of 140 strokes.
The winners of the divisional grades were:
A grade net winner was Marty Booth with 142 strokes;
B grade net winner was Russell Taylor with 147 strokes; and
C grade net winner was Terry Milliken with 147 strokes.
Saturday May, 19: First championship round
Shannon Mazurkiecz was the winner of the stroke and putt event with a score of 69 net with Ian Miller finishing second on a countback in the A grade division.
John Phyland won B grade also on a countback with a net 70 strokes ahead of Reginald Apps.
Michael Kermode was the best of the C grade players with a low 67 net strokes with Gerald Strickland second on 69 strokes.
Leigh Coloe had the lowest off the stick round of 71 while Mitch McLean enjoyed the satisfaction of scoring an eagle on the par 5 tenth hole.
Bruce Lidbury won the putting competition with 26 putts.
Sunday May, 20: Second championship round.
David Gray scored an impressive net 70 strokes to win the A grade division with Jayden Hayden second on 71 strokes.
B grade was won by Martin Booth with a low 67 score ahead of Reginald Apps on 73. C grade best was Terry Milliken who scored 69 ahead of Richard Kelly 71. Aaron Monopoli had the best off the stick score of 73 strokes and Leigh Coloe scored an eagle on the par 5 tenth hole.

Stableford
Stepping up for the A grade win today was Denis Myers (hcp 13) with 38 points. Runner up after countback on 35 points was Derek Quinto (hcp 14) edging Neil Rutherford (hcp 11) who eagled the par five 18th.
Greg Cummins (hcp 21) snared the B grade win with 37 points shading his playing partner Rod Ashton (hcp 20) and fishing partner Dave Cole (hcp 20) who both scored 35.
Charlie Bennett (hcp 26) had a welcome return to form with 38 points to win C grade.
Michael Brown (hcp 27) was runner up on 37 and Mick Smith (hcp 27) third with 35.

Stroke
A tight finish in A grade today which needed a countback to decide the winner which went to Henry Loth (hcp 3) shading Noel Flavell (hcp 15), both scoring well with net 70. One shot back for 3rd was our course superintendent Dave Thomson (hcp 5) on 71.
Winston Fowler (hcp 18) continued his recent good form to win B grade with a 6 under, best of the day, net 66. Derek Quinto (hcp 16) was next on 70 and in 3 rd spot with net 76 was Shane Roberts (hcp 19).
Arnold Watson (hcp 23) had the C grade win carding net 70 shading Michael Brown (hcp 29) and Martin Fowler (hcp 25) both on 74 net.
Club News
The Men’s Golf AGM will be held Saturday, May 26 following a 4 man ambrose competition.

Bermagui Social Golfers
We played our normal 9 hole competition on Sunday with a lovely sunny morning.
El Presidente Graeme Sthruthers was the winner with Glen Van Dyke second and Mal LeComte third.
Back at the Bermagui Hotel where we had lunch supplied by the publican we held our presentations with the badge draw going to Dillon Bennett.
NTP winner was Michael Brown on the 11th.
Player draw was won by Len Murphy. Meat tray went to Mal LeComte and the Veggie Tray winner was Michael Brown with Graeme Sthruthers taking the Pizza Voucher and the bottles of wine were won by Len Murphy and Terry Buckley.
Golfers of any standard welcome each Sunday at 10am at the Club. Next weekend we are going to Tuross Head. All welcome.

The ladies played a Canadian Foursomes on Wednesday. NTP 6th Sandy Chamberlin, 8th Maggie Hayes,11th Maggie Hayes,15th Jan Heaver and Sandy Chamberlin.
Winner Pat Jones and Michele Medelis with 78 nett. Runners up Lynn Ponsford and Barb Stolk 79 nett. Balls to Kim Collingham and Jo Buttrey 82.38 nett, Jan Heaver and Sandy Chamberlin 823.75 nett, Lesley Ashton and Maggie Hayes 83.88 nett, and Elsbeth Cripps and Lynette Manton 85.75 nett.
