The day started with Darcy Hoyer driving the pigeons north to the release point, where they started flying at 8.20am.
Challenging north to northwesterly winds kept the birds along the coastline rather than an inland route.
Mario ‘Muz’ Magrin’s birds were the quickest again, continuing his hot streak. Darcy ‘River Cottage’ Hoyer and Graham ‘Happy’ Ford rounded out the top three.
With lofts located in Tomakin, Moruya, Tuross Head, Tilba, and Wallaga Lake, the winner is determined by the quickest velocity, which is calculated as flying time divided by distance.
The pigeons will head even further north next weekend, as they will begin near Wanda Beach in Cronulla.
