Narooma Golf Club
THURSDAY 2nd AUGUST: A smallish field of 114 players enjoyed pleasant conditions and the DSR emerged as 72/71. In A Grade Robert Ackling came out on top clearly with the day's best score of 42 points off his handicap of 10, followed by Bill Durnan on 39 points and Robert Sayers on 37 points. In B Grade Hal Fraser took the premier position with 39 points off his handicap of 19 with Tony Cobcroft again as runner-up with 38 points on countback from Graham Small. C Grade was taken out by John Willett with 39 points off his handicap of 25, two better than Trevor Owens and three better than Denis Davies. The nearest-the-pin winners were Brendan Warby on 3, Robert Sayers on 9, Frank Jakubowski on 14 and Ron Manly on 17, while the ball competition went down to all on 33 points.

SATURDAY 4th AUGUST: A field of 117 players took to the course for the August Monthly Medal and the fourth round of the John Cobcroft Memorial Stroke where the DSR emerged as a consistent 72. In A Grade Colin O'Sullivan prevailed with a fine score of 69 net off his handicap of 14 to head Brett Thompson by two shots. Jason Andrew filled third place with 72 net on countback from Mark Rogerson. In B Grade hard-working Match Committee member, Paul Ingamells, at last was rewarded with a victory in registering 70 net off his handicap of 22, to win by two shots from Andrew Voormeulen and three from Perry Pericleous. In C Grade dual member Ian Hamilton from Royal Canberra had the best score of the day with 67 net off his handicap of 24, thereby taking out the August Monthly Medal. Jake Kerr from Queanbeyan took second place with 71 net and Gary Schmidt third place with 72 net on countback from Ian Vincent and Jim Doel. The nearest-the-pin winners were Dirk Meyer from Peninsula in Melbourne on 3, Mitch Jeffery on 9, Bernie Krueger on 14 and Brenton Kay on 17, while the ball competition went down to all on 77 net.
Narooma Ladies
Monday 30th July was a Stroke and Qualifying Round for Matchplay Competition. The Winner of Division 1 was Kay Lawrence with 75 nett ocb and Marea Clarke was the Winner of Division 2 with 74 nett. The NTP Winners were: Jenny Walker on 14th Hole for Div 2 and Heather McMillan on 17th Hole for Div 3. Balls went to 80 ocb.
Wednesday 1st August was a Stroke Competition for the August Monthly Medal and Goodwill Plate. The Monthly Medal resulted in a tie between Maureen Casswell, Margaret Brown and Julie Whyte with 71 nett and will be decided by a playoff next month.
The Winner of the July Monthly Medal Playoff was Maureen Casswell over Sylvia Donohoe with 70 nett. The Winner of Division 1 was Meridie Banson with 72 nett and Runner up was Jan Boxsell with 74 nett. The Division 2 Winner was Maureen Casswell with 71 nett ocb from Runner Up Margaret Brown. The DPP on the 14th Hole was won by Julie Whyte and Jan Boxsell won the the Putting with 26 putts. The NTP Winners were: Janice Eardley on 3rd Hole for Div 2, Marlene Hunt on 9th Hole for Div 3 and Dorelle Monteith on 17th Hole for Division 1. Balls went to 77. A Stableford Competition was also played and Robyn Giblett was the Winner with 35 points.
The Narooma Lady Golfers recently hosted a Charity Day for the VRA and members Mal Barry and Sebastian Bachler were presented with a cheque for $1465 by Ladies President Jan Boxsell. A reminder that Friday 17th August is our Legacy Golf Day and golfers and non golfers are most welcome. A 4 Person Ambrose Competition will be held with a Shotgun Start of 10am for 10.30am. Bermagui Country Club
Results for Thursday 2nd August - Stableford. In a close finish the A grade winner was Noel Flavell (hcp 14) with a best score of the day 41. points. The runner-up was Paul Revill (hcp 13) on 40. Then came Darren Miller (hcp 8) on 35. In another close finish a countback was needed to decide the B grade win to John Stichbury (hcp 21) shading Greg Cummins (hcp 20) both on 38 points. Then came Rocky Lagana (hcp16) on 37. Jochen Adam (hcp 24) showed good form to win C grade with 40 points then after a countback we had Geoff Coulon (hcp 25) and Bruce Blair (hcp 31) both on 36. An Eagle was landed on the par 5 ninth hole by Ben Sealey.
Results for Saturday 4th August 2018 – 4BBB Stableford. A large contingent of players from Bega Golf Club travelled to Bermagui for the 1st round of the annual Bega vs Bermagui Shield competition. Bega are the current holders after a 1 point win last year. On their home track Bermagui with an average of 40.1 points finished the day just ahead of Bega who scored 38.5. The best score on the day was returned by Bermagui’s Greg Boyle (hcp 17) and Guy Lingard (hcp 23) who scored a magnificent 49 points. The best score from the Bega boys was 46 points by Greg Gottaas (hcp 27) and Tony Grebert (hcp 30) which placed them in 3rd spot after countback. Obviously spurred on by the intense competition Bermagui’s Nathan Batten landed 2 eagles on the day. One on the par 5 second hole and another on the par 5 sixteenth hole. The final round to decide the bragging rights will be held on Saturday 15 th September when Bermagui travel to Bega Golf Club.

Tuross Head Country Club
The Tuross Head Country Club men's golfers competed in the monthly medal competition on Saturday and the winners were: A grade player Ian McManus was successful in this stroke division with a net score of 67. Allen Gannon filled second placing with 73 with Martin Booth was relegated to third spot on a countback. B grade best was Steven O'Shea with 68 net strokes ahead of Peter Nikolic on 70. Tony Brown was third in this group with 71 strokes. Gerald Strickland was the winner in C grade with a net 71. Ian Kingston and Desmond Jackson took out second and third placings, both scoring 73. Colin Houghton returned the lowest 'off the stick' score with a round of 74. Jason Nikolic's second shot on the par 4 second hole of 1.35 m won him the Golden Shot award. A highlight of the day was a hole in one scored by Brendan Taylor on the 4th hole. Nearest the pins were won by: A grade player Brendan Taylor on the 4th. Mark Haberkorn was awarded the 6th with a very close 25 centimetres and Brad Doolan won the 7th with 7.00m. B grader Trevor Jones was closest on the 4th hole with 5.44. Ian Lawson won the 6th with 3.05 m and Bruce Martin the 7th with 11.05 m. The best of the C grade golfers was Colin Fletcher on the 4th with 2.39 m. The coming Saturday event is the Scoty stableford round. Thursday's mixed stableford medley was won by Bruce Cleeve with a good round of 39 points ahead of Ian Kingston 36, Steve Johnston and Peter Nikolic both finishing on 35 points. Nearest the pins were won by Trevor Jones on the 4th hole, Rex Wood won the 6th and Ian Kingston the 7th hole.
Bermagui Dad’s Army

Next week normal stableford comp then on August 12th is a two person Aggregate Stableford.

The ladies are in the middle of the singles championships. Day 3 & 4 to be played next Monday and Wednesday. The monthly medal was incorporated in Wednesdays game and the winner was Val Schilling.

Bermagui Social Golfers
We started out on a great sunny morning with the players in a good jovial mood. The winner was Jim Bryan from Graeme Sthruthers and third was Bill McKenzie on a count back from Mal LeComte. Hacker of the day went to Kiwi Rowe. NTP winner on the 8th was Michael Brown. Back at the Hotel where we had lunch supplied by the publican we held our presentations with the lucky player draw going to Michael Brown and the badge draw going to Charlie Bennett. The Meat tray went to Charlie Bennett and Veggie Tray was won by Glen Van Dyke and the pizza voucher went to Mal LeComte. The bottles of wine donated by the Pub went to Dave Nelson.
