Promotions officer Robin Scott-Charlton said Monty’s Place was going stronger than ever, with delicious and nutritious lunches served at the Uniting Church Hall – under Narooma’s water tower in Narooma.
“Lunches run from 12pm to 1.30pm, every Wendesday,” she said.
The community organisation provides meals for free but donations are appreciated.
”Our fabulous volunteers in the kitchen serve two or three main courses, and five or six yummy desserts, which usually include pavlova and other scrumptious sweets,” Ms Scott-Charlton said.
She said Monty’s had a terrific bunch of friendly volunteers in the dining room to look after the guests each week.
“They make sure diners enjoy wonderful food and great company.
“And we have music every couple of weeks as well.”
Monty’s Place committee chairman Barry Flanagan said Monty’s Place was getting better and better.
“We regularly have more than 70 guests who enjoy food and much-needed companionship,” Mr Flanagan said.
“We also have regular visits from Legal Aid, Homelessness NSW, as well as the Pathways Drug and Alcohol Program who all provide support to our guests and other members of the community.”
Mr Flanagan said the team at Monty’s were looking for more volunteers as the venue approached its fifth birthday.
“If you want to join a really fabulous team of committed people, please come and join us for lunch on any Wednesday and see first-hand what it is we do,” he said.
Mr Flanagan gave thanks to the valued sponsors of Monty’s Place.
“Over just the last few months we have received support from Stitches of Batemans Bay, Narooma Rotary, Narooma Tennis Club, Dalmeny Quilters, and many other generous people, as well as from our guests,” he said.
“Come and join us. We have a great time and we look after those in our community who are in need. To get involved, contact Di White on 0448 464 468 or dianne.white1@bigpond.com.”
