The students, and healthy-minded teacher Narelle Constable, have embraced Fruit and Vegetable month in September – otherwise known as Vegtember.
“Each class has been involved in a whole school competition involving who can taste the most fruits and vegetables,” Ms Constable said.
“The winning class will be announced in the last week of term and those students will celebrate by making healthy pizzas for lunch
“All K-2 students have participated in the ‘Fresh Food Tour’ to Woolworths Narooma. The students and staff of NPS wish to thank Hamish the Store Manager for the informative tour.
“The children visited the produce department, the coolroom and dock. Woolworths then generously donated fruit for 200 students to make ‘fresh fruit kebabs’ back at school,” Ms Constable said.
“The students have been eagerly completing their activity books and answering vegetable quizzes.
“This was a great way to reinforce students learning about eating healthy foods and the goodness that their growing bodies require.
“There has been a lot of excitement and tasting vegetables which is exactly what we need children to keep doing: eating vegetables.
“Thank you to the students, families of Narooma Public School and Woolworths Narooma for your support.”
