A 37 year-old man from the ACT drowned while snorkelling near Racecourse Beach, Kioloa, at about 3pm on Saturday.

The man’s friends, who had been snorkelling with him, noticed something was wrong, brought him into the beach and attempted to revive him.
A Westpac Helicopter from Moruya, NSW Ambulance and NSW Police crews arrived and assisted.
Paramedics performed CPR, but were unable to revive the man.
Surf Life Saving NSW CEO Steven Pearce said today’s incident coming so close to resumption of volunteer patrols was a reminder of the power of the ocean.
“This was a tragic incident for everyone involved, while the professional response gave the young man the best chance,” Mr Pearce said.
“Unfortunately, this was the worst possible outcome and on behalf of the surf lifesaving community, I would like to express our thoughts and condolences to the man’s family and friends.”
Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
