Division 1 was a nail-biter and, as always, some fantastic games of tennis to watch.
After the first four sets Tomakin were in the lead three sets to one against Bay Larks.
The Larks team of Sue McCann, Ann Cole, Robyn Cole and Barbara Kuessner had to work very hard to lift their game.
With one set to go Tomakin’s team of Lorna Jackson, Libby Ives, Ann Sawtell and Bubba Indian were in the lead four sets to three and 28 games all.
Lorna and Bubba were competing against Sue and Barbara to win the final set.
It was so exciting to watch and as the Larks took out the set 6/4 to be grand final winners by two games.
In Division 2 Tomakin 5/34 defeated Bay Breakers 1/21.
The tennis was enjoyable to watch with plenty of long rallies and deuces but Tomakin – with Deb Coleman from Tomkatz team playing – were too strong for Breakers on the day.
In Division 3 the Broulee Brolgas 5/34 defeated Dalmeny Dazzlers 1/24 with some great tennis played at a very high standard.
Particular mention must be made of Sarah who, at 80 years of age, has played with finesse all year and helped the Brolgas defeat the Dazzlers in a decisive manner.
This is a fine example how tennis keeps us fit and healthy in mind and body and that you are never too old to play.
