Narooma Women
Autumn has arrived and ladies enjoyed bowling in the overcast conditions last Tuesday, March 5.
On the green two games of fours, one triples and a pairs combination saw some great bowls delivered. The day’s winners were determined by the team winning the lowest number of ends.
After some careful counting first prize was awarded to Aurelia Robinson and Janet Murphy who won 10 ends to 8 against Betty Greenshields and Gail Riley.
Second place, with ends 11 to 7, was awarded to Clare Cork, Sue Bender, Gail Palmer and Dawn Kenny against Sue Wales, Pam Grant, Leila Gosper and Annette Linney.
Members welcomed Julie Smith to bowls. We hope you enjoy life on the green.
Aurelia Robinson is celebrating her birthday on Saturday so best wishes Aurelia. Maureen Findlay was the lucky 50Club winner, while Gail Riley and Lorraine Mitchell won the raffle prizes. Thanks to Rapley’s Meats for their valued support.
The final of the Minor Singles was played in spectacular Autumn weather last Thursday, under a cloudless blue sky.
Pam Grant and Jan Rapkins played some great bowls and the score was close in the early stages before Jan applied the pressure and took the lead.
Pam re-gathered and reduced the deficit to just two shots after 31 ends, before Jan scored two to win the match.
A wonderful game and spectators thoroughly appreciated all the close ends. Congratulations Jan on your good bowling to become our 2019 Minor Singles Champion.
Major Singles – the draw is on the notice board. First round matches start tomorrow.
Pennant matches commence next Tuesday – good bowling to all.
Dalmeny Men
Another fine Monday saw a good field of 36 players with the winners decided by the ‘secret ends’ system and on 14 points were Joe Cre-O, Par Wain and Paul V and ER with the runners up on 10 points being Shark Finn, Cobber Dudley and the Macedonian Illya.
The first resting toucher went to Bruce Cover-outs and the $111 jackpot was won by the winners. The wrong bias sinners were Browny, Illya, Dudley and Peter Hit-Holden. The raffles went to new member Poor Johnston, John Oarley, Emberley Bootprint and Clive KV.
Once again numbers were down to 24 for similar conditions on Thursday which saw ‘secret ends’ again as the game decider for the winners on 10 points Meadow Lewis and Nan Maureen from the runners-up on 9 points in the Mayoress Olwyn, Cobber Dudley and the Goose who also took out the resting toucher.
The $129 jackpot was not won and the only wrong bias sinner is our President Pete. The raffle winners were Ex.PM Neil (twice) sending round again for Olwyn, Lee (twice) who also sent it round again for Marg Joiner, Chef Keith and Scarf-man Jack.
Friday night twilight bowl’s attendances was down to 22 but they still enjoyed the late season conditions and the winners were the Grahams, Brett and Neil from the runners-up who only “won” against some visitors, in John Oarley, Dick’s son Ian and Buzz Saw.
The first resting toucher went to Ray Over-rod who also took out the $10 Southern Euro Plumbing lucky draw and Par Budin won the 2 free coffees from Down 2 Earth Coffee.
Thanks again to our two outside sponsors and the Dalmeny Men’s Bowling Committee.
The Friday twilight game is open to all over the age of 12, both male and female, so come along and for $10 entry (bowls supplied) enjoy two hours of fun and prizes but please get your names down on the sign-up sheets by 4.45pm for the 5.30pm start.
Making a Goose of himself again, he wrongly reported last week the No.5 Pennants team had a win against Tuross Head which was in fact Malua Bay and this week at home against Moruya they had another win 2/1 rinks and 9/1 points keeping up their good run losing only 1 game so far.
The final round of the minor singles was deferred until next Sunday between The Shoeman Dave By-the Way and Account Drury due to the annual Fishing Club v The Bowlers Charity Challenge with the bowlers acquitting themselves well winning 4/2 rinks by a margin that wasn’t revealed to the writer but a photo taken of one scoreboard I’m assured is a true indication of the difference between the 2 sides. A good spread of food and drinks was enjoyed by all after the game.
