Monday's fine weather continues to shine over our greens where 34 bowlers organised by Shark Finn with secret ends deciding the winners after a 3-way countback on 9 points, guess who? Dig Simms, Cobber Dudley and Shark Finn from the runners-up in Pom Kennedy, Broker Jim and Windy Ray. No-one scored a resting toucher nor did the $197 jackpot go off. The wrong bias sinners were gospeller Bob, Snoopy Falkiner, visitor Up and Down Bryes and Ex.PM Neil (3) while the raffle prizes went to Ian East-off, Gunner Reg, Golden Arches Alan and Browny.
The Goose flu too high or maybe too low and copped a good dose of the lurgi going around and ended up grounded, so book results only for the 20 players on Thursday which had the highest winning margin deciding the winners in Hi-ain't MacGregor, Kenny Hill and the Goose's usual playing partners of Cobber Dudley and Lloyd Attic-Us from the runners up in Roy Falkiner, President Pete and Chef Keith. No resting toucher was recorded nor was the $100 jackpot won.
The final round of the major singles championship between Account Drury and Buzz B-perch was played on Tuesday saw Buzz rush away to a 13/1 lead at the 8th end before the first of 3 comebacks by Billy to be down 13/8 at the 13th and 17/12 at the 17th and 21/16 at the 21st end before Buzz put the match safely in his keeping winning 31/18 at the 26th end. Congratulations Buzz on another major singles win, his un-precedented 6th, and well done Billy in playing your best, the reason you made the final.
In the championship pairs an early 1st round game saw Ken Dam-in-As and Garry L-Rentacar up against Peter Can-son and Account Drury who shot out the blocks 5/nil after 2 and 11/4 after 9 ends before Ken and Garry decided to get in on the game and scored consistently over the next 11 ends to win convincingly 23/13 at the 20th end. In the match between Par Budin and Ex.Docker Ian, stand in for Buzz Saw, against President Pete and Peter Mur-100 saw a fairly even start with Norm/Ian leading 5/4 after 6 ends where the 2 Peters got their act together to lead 10/5 at the 9th and 15/6 at the 14th before a run of 1-pointers by Norm and Ian over the next 4 ends reduced the lead to 15/10 but a 4/1 finish over the next 2 ends by the 2 Peters gave them an unassailable lead to win 19/11 at the 20th end. Sailor Brian and Steal Coulson teamed up against Shark Finn and Punter Alan but after a 1 on the 1st end saw Alan/Finn race ahead to lead 12/1 on the 7th end before Rob and Brian slowed the scoring to be 19/7 down at the 17th end but their single scores over the next 3 ends was not enough and went down 19/10 at the 20th end. Sienna Don and Chef Keith were evenly matched against Peter the Pom and Frot-back Aspaas with the scores 2-all at 3, 6-all at 7, 8-all at 9 and a 11/10 lead to Don and Keith at the 12th end and 17/10 lead at the 15th end. Peter and Torf decided to get back in the game boosting their score to be 16/17 down at the 18th end but a 10-nil finish by Don and Keith over the next 3 ends saw them winners 27/16 at the 21st end. Well done to all contestants and we look forward to the keen competition between the players over the next 2 weeks in deciding our pairs champions for 2019.
