The overnight and morning rain only delayed the start, rather than the usual early call-off of activities for our Monday's bowlers who turned up hoping for some action which started at 1pm for 18 ends which saw the highest winning margin deciding the winners in Ken Hill, Peter Mur-100 and Emberly Footprint from the runners-up in Account Cartwright and Punter Alan. The resting toucher went to Steal Coulson but the $100 jackpot did not go off.
The first Friday afternoon turn-up of 18 was not impressive but easily organised by Chef Keith who had the lowest winning margin deciding the winners on 3 in Hi-ain't Mac or Greg, Hookara Wort and Punter Alan from the runners-up on 6 in Dick's son Ian, Chef Keith and Par Budin. No resting toucher was scored nor was the $189 jackpot taken out. Cobber Dudley was the only wrong bias sinner with his 1st bowl of the day and the raffle prizes went to Digger Ken, President Pete, Ian East-off (twice) sending it round again for Lois Mac, Chef Keith and the Goose. Lets hope our numbers improve in the following weeks or the reason for the day change doesn't look too healthy.
Once again there maybe still time, if you hurry, to sign-on for the club championship fours as names need to be down as the draw will be made tomorrow the 18th July for the 1st round starting on the 21st July.

Second place went to Reigh Callaway, Jeff McCusker and Kevin Callaway (skip) who led 11 to 4 after 11 ends but their opponents fought back to take the lead after 18 ends before Kevin's team picked up shots on the last 2 ends for a 18 to 16 win over Billy Wilton, Paul Naylor and Shorty Smart (skip). Very pleasing to see Peter Hawker continue his fine form to get the first resting toucher at 12.52, well done Peter.

Narooma Women's Bowls
Last Tuesday 8 July was 'Mad Tuesday' so stripes were the dress code and a Joe's Special' was the method used to allocate teams. The day was bathed in beautiful sunshine as participants in both triples games strived for the resting toucher prize, to no avail, although some bowls were very close and Jenny did discover her callipers whilst measuring. The accumulated kitty will now be added to the proceeds from Charity Day next Tuesday 23 July. Winning lead for the day was Clare Cork, second Jenny Coulson and Vicki Herman skip. Jan Rapkins was awarded 'best stripes' outfit with Sandra Breust a close second. It is understood the prizes were significant! Raffle winners were lucky Jenny Coulson and Maureen Findlay.
Best wishes to Dawn Kenny who will celebrate her birthday on Saturday. Have a great day Dawn.

Last Friday 12 July saw twenty teams on the green to compete for the annual Perpetual Mixed Pairs trophy and prizemoney. The event consists of three games of four bowl pairs played over 12 ends each. After some hot competition on a lovely sunny day, only one team was able to win all three games.
Results as follows: - fourth place - Brian Seaman (Dalmeny) and Annabelle Gammon (Tathra) with 2 game wins, 1 draw, plus 14 shots; third place - Keith Pickett and Vicki Herman (Narooma) with 2 game wins, 1 draw, plus 16 shots; second place Jay Breust (Malua Bay) and Jenny Coulson (Narooma) with 2 game wins, 1 draw, plus 19 shots. First place - Wayne (Buzz) Breust (Dalmeny) and Sandra Breust (Narooma) after winning all three games.
The Perpetual Mixed Pairs trophy and prize money was presented by Graham Reeve, President of the Narooma Sporting and Services Cub, sponsors of the event. Congratulations Buzz and Sandra on a top effort.
Another wonderful day of bowls, thanks to everyone who contributed to the successful running of the event and to the NSSC for their valued sponsorship. Thanks also to staff of NSSC for their assistance and support. In particular, thanks to the green keepers, the umpires and to Warren for his assistance. Also, thanks to all players, we hope to see everyone again next year.
Tuross Head
Lakeside Triples: Tuross Head Men's Bowling Club has staged another successful Lakeside Triples with 24 teams competing for over $4000 in prizemoney over two days. Teams travelled from Sydney, ACT, Bega, Wollongong and from the nearby clubs with the visiting teams filling all six of the placegetters.
In a very tight competition none of the sides were able to go through the rounds undefeated! In the end the final placings were determined by a one shot result between the two sides that finished first and second. The team of Phil Matthews and Thelma and Dave Roberts from Towradji edged out Dave Johnson, Dave Carter (Moruya) and Jason Hossack (Bodalla). Both sides won six games with Hossack's only loss being a one shot defeat by the Towradji side. Roberts recovered from a first round loss to end with six wins and a margin of plus 33.
Hossack's side also had six wins but their margin was plus 24. It is the second year in a row that they have finished agonisingly close in second place! The sides that finished third, fourth and fifth all won 5 games had one draw and one loss. Again they were separated by their 'shots margin'. The Bega side of Hedley Lucas, Tony Sturt and Lynton Riddell finished third with 11 points plus 16. Jay Breust (Malua Bay) teamed with Weston Creek's Ian Whybrow and Bruce Wall to finish 4th with 11 points plus 9.
The Tuggeranong side of Sean Allen, Michael Corby and Dale Budnick stumbled at the last hurdle losing their last game and were relegated from leader to fifth with 11 points and plus 8! The final prize money winners were last year's champions Keith Pickett (Narooma), Jeff Rankin (Moruya) and Mollymook's Nick King. They were the best of the 5 game winners with 10 points and plus 23.
