Through a collaborative effort, the book was written, illustrated and with the assistance of Bega Valley Library staff, it was digitally formatted by the children.
Their story takes readers on a journey through the course of a day in Bermagui, using Yuin names for the native animals you meet.
Pupils were inspired after reading Alison Lester's book, Our Island.
"The story that inspired them was of a day on an island in Queensland," class teacher Julia Loughran said.
"They wanted to write about a day in Bermagui, focusing on the natural environment."
"Gordon Campbell and Merrimans Local Aboriginal Land Council gave a lot of support, helping with the use of Dhurga."
In conjunction with Book Week celebrations, Our Balindjang Home will be launched at the Bermagui Library at 10.30am on Friday, August 23.
"Each student created their own page and will be there to read from the book themselves and present it to the library," Ms Loughran said.
Each pupil received their very own copy; Ms Loughran said it was a moment of self-accomplishment for all involved.
"They are so immensely proud to see each step of the process come to fruition," she said.
"We learn a lot of Dhurga in class; it is great for them to be able to use it and for others to see."
The school provided funds to have copies of the book printed for community groups and those involved in the process.
"It won't be for sale, but if anyone is interested, contact the school," Ms Loughran said.
