Faiz Rizvi owns property next to the intersection, and witnessed yesterday's two-car smash that saw five people taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Mr Rizvi has lived in the area for eight years, and said he "hears screeching tyres and horns everyday".
"They've made a mess of the rebuilding of that road," he said. "You've got elderly people coming off Hector McWilliam Drive to the Princes Highway, and they can't accelerate like younger people can.
"There's not even 100 metres before a crest on your right-hand side, and you can't see the cars coming.
"They've still got the same problems as before, they've just put a concrete island in the middle. It's a highway, not suburbia - putting in an island doesn't fix anything."
Mr Rizvi said he's seen at least 40 crashes during his time in Coila.
"It's always been a dangerous intersection," he said. "Instead of making it better, they've made it worse in my opinion."
Mr Rizvi believes one change would drastically decrease the chances of fatal accidents.
"They could have put a slipway in for people trying to turn north, similar to Dalmeny," he said. "That would have saved the accident that happened yesterday.
"It's lucky no one was badly hurt in that accident. The car rolled, and I think they were blessed that nobody died."
"I'm frightened someone will be killed soon if a slipway isn't put in. There's plenty of room to put one in, and I tried to tell them that while they were working on the intersection.
"The bus should also have a little bit more room to stop when it's going south, but the main thing is a slipway."
