"Severe" is the third-highest of the RFS's fire danger ratings.
The ratings were created to give people an indication of the possible consequences of a fire if one started.
The RFS's advice for those facing a bushfire in severe conditions includes leaving early in the day if you are not prepared, and while prepared and actively defended homes can provide safety only stay if you are physically and mentally ready to defend under the conditions.
In Bega, Weatherzone is predicting temperatures will reach a high of 29 degrees Celsius on Tuesday and wind speeds will peak at 22km/h.
It has forecast temperatures in Merimbula will reach 24 degrees and wind speeds will hit 32km/h on the day.
Also, the Bureau of Meteorology has issued a damaging wind warning for parts of the South Coast on Tuesday, stating wind speeds from 60 to 70km/h and peak gusts in excess of 90km/h are possible.
Dangerous fire conditions have been forecast across the state for Tuesday, with the RFS also releasing a catastrophic fire danger warning for the Greater Sydney area.
On Monday, a state of emergency was declared in NSW ahead of the bushfire risk forecast for the next day, with powers transferred from the state government to the NSW Rural Fire Service Commissioner.
The announcement comes at a time when firefighters have been battling 64 bushfires across the state including the north coast where three people died and at least 150 homes were destroyed over the past three days.
The RFS has also declared a statewide total fire ban for all areas of NSW for all of Monday and Tuesday.
