A crowd of keen shoppers gathered in the new car park of Narooma Plaza, waiting to check out the store.
After the ribbon was cut, people poured through the doors.
Shopper Roger Hilton of Narooma said the new store was a long time coming.
"The variety is what I look forward to most, which has been a problem in the past - having to go to Batemans Bay or Moruya for a certain item," he said.
Another shopper, Aunty Coleen, was very enthused by the new store.
"I have lived here all my life (81 years), and it is the best thing I have ever seen," she said.
Store manager Lisa Payne said Narooma deserved a new store.
"We had been waiting for so long and we really want the town to enjoy it," she said.
Despite the recent strike of Woolworths warehouse workers, the new store was stocked to the brim.
Batemans Bay and Moruya stores had suffered shortages of stock due to the strike.
