While smoke has become a normal part of this summer, the haze did not stop hundreds coming to Batehaven for a bacon and egg roll and a chance to hang out with mates on Australia Day.

The Rotary breakfast was free to the public due to bushfires that have, and continue to, hit the whole South Coast since November, wave after wave.
Many were appreciative of the festivities, with one Denhams Beach resident saying "the community needed it".
The event brought together those who had lost their homes with friends.
Welcome to Country was made by Bunja Smith.
The Soldiers Club Pipe Band, Sing Australia Choir, the Clydesdales and Moruya Brass Band performed.
Bega MP Andrew Constance addressed the crowd and said fires were still burning and many people still needed help.
