About 50 people gathered for morning tea at the Tuross Head Men's Shed to celebrate.
Men's Shed president Wayne Brockman said members and associates were looking for ways to help those hit hard by the bushfires. "We wanted to donate directly," he said.
"We didn't want to donate to the big bucket." They discovered Tin Pot, Belowra and Nerrigundah were most affected, closest to Tuross.
The Men's Shed began fundraising by passing a hat around for donations.
Mr Brockman excused his pun and said: "the hat went around like wildfire". It soon had $923 inside.
Once the word got out, donations came rushing in, even from America. Donations also kept rolling in throughout the morning tea.
Tinpot RFS was unable to attend the morning tea.
Ewan Thomson and Trevor Kincaid of Belowra RFS thanked everyone gathered.
"Our brigades struggle to raise money because we are remote and don't live in town to do fundraisers," Mr Thomson said.
Belowra RFS look forward to using the money to buy a water pump and sprinklers for their shed.
Nerrigundah's captain Ron Threlfall expressed his appreciation, especially for the trailer-load of tools the Men's Shed delivered a few weeks ago.
"Two thirds of the tools are gone, people from Nerrigundah and Belowra have come and picked them up," Mr Threlfall said.
"The hammers and rakes have been real handy, as well as the wheelbarrows donated from Durras.
"They have been a benefit to our community and brigades."
