John Rowley, who has suffered with severe eczema all his life, and his wife Jane visited the national capital last month to urge the to urge the Federal Government to help.
"I'm sending an SOS to the federal government because eczema has taken a huge toll on my life," Mr Rowley said.
"I've been hospitalized with infections. I've had depression and anxiety. I've finally found relief with a new medicine for severe eczema called Dupixent. It's been life-changing."
He has received it on compassionate grounds and said it has ended the itch, pain and allowed him, finally, to live a normal life.
He wants it included on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme so others don't pay $20,000 per year for relief.
The medicine is being reviewed for cost-effectiveness for the third time by the government advisory committee in March.
John WAS joined in Canberra by patients from NSW, Queensland, Victoria, Canberra and Tasmania who presented the SOS campaign to parliamentarians during a morning tea, organised by Eczema Support Australia.
John and Jane said: "We need to ensure that the Federal Government fully understand the distress, pain, sleep disruption and do not overlook it amid all the other budget priorities."
