Captain Sophie Taylor said the fire began three weeks after her team conducted a pile burn at the Glasshouse Rocks Road property, on behalf of the landowners.
The landowner monitored the burn and "did all the right things".
However, the fire, which was burning into the ground, continued to smoulder and spread to long grass.
Two Narooma Rural Fire Service crews were sent to the blaze about 2.30pm.
Captain Taylor said the landowner luckily had Go Kart tracks, which were used as containment lines.
The blaze was quickly extinguished.
She said the incident showed how unpredictable fire could be, and property owners should monitor pile burns at all times.
