Wednesday, July 8 - Narooma Croquet Club conducted a Doubles Handicap Golf Tournament over the full day of Wednesday, July 8. In the 'round robin' competition of 15 matches the following six doubles teams - based on pairings of high and low handicaps - vied for supremacy, each team playing five games:-
1. Jean Phillips and Christine Stent
2. Fay O'Connor and Di Sims
3. Len Favier and Janet Jones
4. Sally McGourty and Aurelia Robinson
5. Louise Starkie and Pearl Hanson
6. Helen Stannard and Pauline Wilcock
In the morning session team number 3 of Len Favier and Janet Jones set a cracking pace winning all three games by comfortable margins. But something must have been in their lunch, when, in the first game of the afternoon session they appeared to be continuing their dream morning's run of success, leading 4 nil against team number 2 of Fay O'Connor and Di Sims, until the game turned on its head, with Fay and Di putting in a faultless performance to win 7 to 5. This meant that the result of the tournament relied on Len and Janet's last match up against team number 6 of Helen Stannard and Pauline Wilcock (who also had only one loss). Len and Janet, finding themselves under duress, however managed to recover and win 7 to 3 and thus secure tournament victory. Team number 1 of Jean Phillips and Christine Stent was judged to be runners-up on a count-back of points scored from Helen Stannard and Pauline Wilcock, who were placed third. A good, but tiring, time was had by all.
Bookings with Fay O'Connor, telephone 0421 352 527, or Jean Phillips, keeping to COVID-19 protocols.
Association Croquet
Friday July 10 - Championship Handicap Association Croquet Tournament.

Scarborough Singles Game (yellow ball wild): Janet Jones played superbly to win by scoring 13 against Pauline Wilcock 3 and Len Favier 3.
