Whilst this is positive news for those already registered in our dog obedience programs, it is not so good for anyone who was thinking of joining in September.
Unfortunately, the club just can't take any more new registrations until October, COVID-19 social distancing restrictions being a key reason for this decision to limit numbers.
For the remainder of 2020, any new handlers wanting to bring their dog to obedience classes must ring and book with the Secretary (0458 953 281), as places are limited.
This way the club can continue to operate safely and ensure that everyone enjoys a rewarding, educational experience.
But wait! There is some good news for those who do register in October or November - the registration fee is reduced by 50 per cent to just $10 a dog. It's a bargain!
Rally O, as it is commonly known, is an interactive and motivational "sport" in which the dog and handler navigate a timed course, comprising a number of signposted "stations" of obedience exercises.
There is good news too for handlers already in club programs.
Both Rally Obedience and Agility training will be available for handlers who have reached Yellow Class and above.
Rally O, as it is commonly known, is an interactive and motivational "sport" in which the dog and handler navigate a timed course, comprising a number of signposted "stations" of obedience exercises.
Handlers use verbal encouragement and praise to motivate their dog to perform willingly and happily through the course.
It's great mental stimulation for both handler and dog.
This year, the Rally O program is overseen by Deputy Chief Instructor Yve Robinson, with award-winning handler Pam Rolley setting out the courses, and providing her expertise and up-to-date knowledge of Rally O rules.
Pam and Nina Balas, also an award-winning handler, will provide instructional guidance to all participants.
So to recap - Narooma Dog Training Club is fully booked for September.
The next Registration Day for new handlers in Dog Obedience will be Saturday, October 10, after the long weekend.
Unforseen events of 2020, from bushfires to the COVID-19 shutdown, have seriously disrupted club programs.
Be assured we are doing our best to remain operational during very trying times.
If the weather remains kind, there will be eight lessons available to those handlers who register in October.
This is plenty of time to learn "the basics" and bond with your dog before the Christmas break.
Bookings are essential and further information is available from the Secretary 0458 953 281, 9am-5pm weekdays.
We are all volunteers at the club, so if the phone doesn't answer straight away, please leave a message and your call will be returned.
