The two clubs finished with near identical stats, but the Lions edged ahead with a strong goal-scoring presence to take the lead on for and against.
The Lions proved a tough challenge on their home turf at Narooma's Bill Smyth Memorial Oval on Saturday, defeating the Diggers 9-9-63 to 6-6-42.
The Narooma Club had also claimed a win in the earlier reserve grade competition in similar fashion, downing the Merimbula club 10-7-67 to 5-5-35.
In the senior contest, while Dylan Jordan made a glorious contribution of four goals for the Diggers, it was a trio of attacking options from Narooma that provided the difference with Tyson Mikolic, Harrison Bromwich and Buster Ware each kicking a pair.
The Lions flew out of the gate to kick three goals in the opening quarter and set up an early advantage over their season-long rivals from Merimbula.
And while the Diggers were putting some attacking options on the board, the Lions were able to chip away at goals and keep clawing ahead to lead by 22 at the major break.
Jason Sailuma had a standout performance for the home club, while the Hodge duo of Thomas and Will provided ample challenge to the visitors.
Out of the Merimbula camp, Will Regan was best on ground, while Caleb Higgins and Jedd Martyn continued their stellar form to keep the Diggers within touch on the scoreboard.
A four-goal third quarter had the Diggers getting within just nine points of the lead, but the Lions bounced back in the final period of play, keeping Merimbula goalless while piling on three of their own to end out play and clinch the minor premiership.
In the reserve grade contest Narooma's Zack Roberts played out of his skin to be a clear best on ground winner, bagging five goals for the home club to aid in their win.
Meanwhile, Merimbula's five goals had come from individual goal scorers with kicking options breaking out of the middle.
The win sees the Lions consolidate fourth place on the ladder ahead of the Tathra Sea Eagles to contest finals play this weekend.
The Narooma Club will now be the staging ground for a 1v4 semi-final showdown this weekend with the Lions to host Pambula in the headline senior draw.
Given their fourth place standing, the Lions will also be at home for their knockout challenge against the Whalers from noon on Saturday.
A 2v3 knockout final will go ahead at Merimbula's Berrambool Oval with the Diggers to host Tathra in seniors.
Junior clashes will run at the Narooma ground from 9am on Saturday with seniors to take the field from noon.
