JOSH Teskey's rise in becoming one of Australia's most exciting new voices with his soul-rock band The Teskey Brothers has been remarkable. His voice is warm and nostalgic, yet blistering, at the same time.
On Push The Blues Away Teskey steps beyond the family band to team up with bluesman Ash Grunwald. Following an impromptu jam, the pair decided to record an eight-track acoustic blues album featuring six originals and two covers - Son House's Preach'n The Blues and Elmore James' The Sky Is Crying.
Subtly is the key to the album. With just acoustic guitar and harmonica, Teskey's raw vocal is left to deliver the colour and feeling. Grunwald, too, produces some of his finest work in years.
