On November 26, 2019, a blue icon appeared on the Fires Near Me app. Lightning had ignited a fire in the Currowan State Forest northwest of Batemans Bay.
The blaze would become known as the Currowan Fire and over the next few weeks would wreak havoc over much of the South Coast.
