A police spokesperson said emergency services were called about 11.15pm after the truck driver had to get out and walk some distance to find reception to call for assistance.
Inquiries suggest a mature gum fell from the eastern side of the highway on to the road and the truck had to take evasive action, which resulted in its front wheels leaving the western edge of the bridge.
Fire and Rescue NSW Station 286 Eden, RFS, Roads and Maritime Services and NSW Police were in attendance and a crane was required to successfully move the truck back onto the road.
Fire and Rescue NSW Eden station commander Zlatko Nemec said the highway was closed for approximately two hours before emergency services managed to cut the tree up and make one lane free.
"We had to get the truck out of its predicament with the least damage possible," Commander Nemec said.
"The truck driver sustained no injuries, we praise his quick action slowing down other vehicles coming around a blind corner preventing further accidents."
