Last night, Cr Innes revealed she needed to spend some time with her family and take time for herself and would not contest the upcoming elections.
Cr Innes was first elected to council in 2012 before securing the mayoral role in 2015.
In an interview with WIN News Illawarra, Cr Innes said it had been an tough couple of years and referenced the bushfires which affected her family home.
She said it had been an honour to be part of a community that had been through so much and was on the road to recovery, but she also needed to take time for her own recovery.
Cr Innes referenced the oyster hatchery at Moruya Airport, tourism industry projects and promotion of the arts as being what she was most proud of during her mayoral term.
NSW local government elections will take place on Saturday, September 4 2021.
