Just after 11am, Bega and Narooma VRA Rescue Squad crews arrived at a home on Cobargo-Bermagui Road to rescue an Australian Terrier.
Malcolm Barry of Narooma Rescue Squad said crews tried to coax the dog out from the burrow.
"One of our members and the owner were under the house trying to get to the Aussie Terrier which was in the rabbit burrow, under the concrete slab," he said.
Mr Barry said the rabbit burrow could have been more than a metre deep. He said it was instinct for that particular breed of dog to hunt rabbits.
"Terriers are bred to chase rabbits down rabbit burrows, but this one didn't want to come out," he said.
"We could hear the dog, but didn't want to dig too far under the house foundation."
Unfortunately, due to confined space and the concrete structure, Mr Barry said crews left the scene, unable to get the dog out.
Mr Barry recommended for the owners to leave food and water out, with hopes the dog would come out on its own.
"The owners were enticing the pet with food and water," he said.
"We haven't heard back from them, hopefully it did come out."
Mr Barry said the Narooma crew worked well with the "top-notch" Bega Rescue Squad.
