Dashcam footage shows the 20-year-old man thrashing around in the driver's seat of a Volkswagen Tiguan while stopped at a traffic light in the Brisbane suburb of Upper Mount Gravatt on May 19.
He put the SUV in reverse and tried to manoeuvre between cars at the intersection before appearing to speed away at a green light, the footage showed.
His car was caught again on dashcam ploughing into a Holden Captiva at the intersection of Logan and Klumpp roads and sending it into traffic, billowing smoke.

Police said the occupants of that car sustained minor injuries during the crash.
Dashcam footage showed a police patrol car was behind the 20-year-old when he began driving strangely.
After crashing into the family's car the man was quickly arrested and charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle, being adversely affected by an intoxicating substance and driving unlicensed.
He was refused bail and is due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on May 20.
