Police and fire authorities are investigating a suspicious bushfire on the Far South Coast, believed to have been purposely started.

At 9.30pm on Wednesday, September 24, emergency services were called to Arthur Kaine Drive, south of Dunns Lane, between Merimbula and Pambula, after reports of a fire.
NSW Police Chief Inspector Shane Jessep said the fire was discovered in bushland.
He stated that the Rural Fire Service and Merimbula Fire and Rescue were in attendance and extinguished the fire.
The area damaged by fire was estimated to be 0.8 hectares in size.

"It appears it may have been deliberately lit," NSW Police Chief Inspector Shane Jessep told Bega District News.
The incident remained under investigation by RFS and NSW Police.
