The time capsule was buried at All Saints Church Bodalla on Easter Monday but the plaque marking its spot was only unveiled on Sunday following the Harvest Festival service.
The Bodalla time capsule came about as a result of money left over from the Bodalla 150-year-celebrations held in 2010.
It is hoped that the time capsule will be dug up in 48 years’ time during the Bodalla Bicentenary celebrations.
Among the items sealed in Cryovac bags are all the newspaper clippings from the 2010 Bodalla 150-year celebrations; about 120 antique photos; brochures for Eurobodalla Shire attractions; a radio; an old mobile phone; a pack of cigarettes (which the committee is hoping will be obsolete in 50 year time) and a Woman’s Weekly to name but a few.
President of the Bodalla 150-year-celebration committee Kath Crapp and the Reverend Carol Wagner performed the unveiling of the plaque, which was covered in the original Bodalla flag.
