After years of looking for a home, the three members of the Narooma Lion’s Club Men’s Shed committee were on hand as the owners of the former Narooma Hire sheds on Glasshouse Rocks Road handed over the keys.
Kris and Colin Macauley of Dalmeny have agreed to a one-year lease for the building with an option for another year after that.
But this was still seen as only a temporary solution, although the location in the industrial estate was ideal with room to grow.
“We are still looking for a permanent location, so if anyone has ideas, please let us know,” committee member Rob Atkinson said.
Already as many as 30 people gathered for the first meeting with the first item on the agenda being to form a new Narooma Men’s Shed committee.
Present were representatives from the already successful Wallaga Lake Bermagui Men’s Shed who were keen to share advice, as well as potential new members wanting to join the new group.
Lions Club president Adrianne Waterman encouraged anyone interested in joining to come along next Tuesday.
“The club again would like to thank the owners for their generosity in providing the buildings,” Ms Waterman said.
The Narooma Men’s Shed group will tentatively meet on Tuesdays at the location, but look for more details in upcoming Narooma News editions.
