Filmed in the Tilba region, with its green rolling hills set against the dramatic backdrop of Gulaga, the show will give viewers a taste of what it is like to live and farm sustainably in the shire.
Mayor of Eurobodalla Shire Council, Cr Lindsay Brown, said the people in the district have a great affinity to everyday sustainable farming practices and the show’s location has given host, Paul West, access to some fabulous resources such as Narooma and Clyde River oyster farms, local wineries and boutique dairy producers.
“Paul has been living on a property in Tilba and leading a sustainable lifestyle similar to that of the popular English River Cottage series’ host, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall,” Cr Brown said.
“He has been out and about getting some great tips on farming and growing produce so that he can cook up a storm during the Australian series.”
The chef has visited the Eurobodalla’s country and farmers markets checking out the produce, chatting with stall holders, attending local events and made some great contacts that will be of great value as he settles in to his new home.
Cr Brown says the council continues to work with the River Cottage production team.
“It’s all about trying to help grow our local economy,” he said. “Tilba was the perfect location for the series which will be a great advertisement for Eurobodalla and for anyone who may be thinking about visiting or considering a lifestyle change.”
River Cottage Australia premiere on Foxtel’s Lifestyle Channel on Thursday, June 27 at 8.30pm.
