The kitchen and dining facility is located behind the church at the top of the hill on the Princes Highway near the water tower.
“We are starting in a small way and building up slowly with one meal a week on Wednesdays,” said David Oliphant, Monty’s Place board chairman.
“Any one is welcome who is looking for a meal and some connection and friendship.”
Monty’s Place is modelled on the very successful Ricky’s Place in Bega, which now serves meals and provides other services to people in need in Bega and the surrounding area.
Monty’s Place is a community organisation made up of people from churches and community organizations under the auspices of UnitingCare and the Uniting Church.
“We have some wonderful people involved, but we are always interested in hearing from others who would like join our team of volunteers,” he said.
Monty’s Place can be contacted through David Oliphant on 4473 7838.
