The event is jointly organised between the Narooma Woodies and the Eurobodalla Woodies, whose members exihibit and enter items into a competition.
This year, the event was opened by State Member Andrew Constance.
Chris (Smiley) Magill of Narooma won “Best in Show” with his stylish chair, while “People’s Choice” went to Keith Hartas of Lilli Pilli with his amazing backgammon box that featured a lid made of old circuit boards embedded in resin and game pieces made of his grandmother’s watches also set in resin.
Organiser Eric Simes said the woodworkers were continuing with their concerted effort of getting young people involved with Narooma High School students invited to enter and exhibit.
This year, three students entered the competition and organisers would like to see more and more woodworking hours in the school curriculum.
Mr Simes himself had what was without a doubt the largest item on display, his 7-metre fractional-rigged sloop named “Saga” that took him 1500 hours and two years to build out of Huon pine and which just happens to be for sale.
“She sails like a witch,” referring to her quick but tricky nature on the water.
