FISHING facilities across the Eurobodalla region are set to improve with grants from the NSW Recreational Fishing Trust of $95,390 for projects in the local region, Member for Bega, Andrew Constance said today.

Mr Constance said “local fishers will benefit from a share of almost $16 million worth of projects that will improve recreational fishing opportunities across NSW this year:
* $60,000 for a fishing platform at the Moruya Riverside Park allowing limited mobility person’s and those without boats to enjoy a centrally located facility
* $15,000 for Construction of a timber and platform stairway to Jamieson’s Beach at Potato Point, providing safer access to recreational anglers
* $12,390 for an additional fish cleaning table at Narooma Wharf
* $8,000 for a new Stainless steel top to be placed over the existing concrete fish cleaning table at Preddy’s Wharf, Moruya
“These are fantastic projects which will enhance recreational fishing facilities for the many local fishers and tourists who love to drop a line in our region,” he said.
“These important projects will result in better access for locals and tourists to recreational fishing area’s and the addition of a second fish cleaning table in Narooma and an improved cleaning surface at Preddy’s Wharf Moruya will be welcomed by many.
“These projects are directly funded by the sale of the NSW Recreational Fishing Fee, so anglers can rest assured that the fees they pay are reinvested into worthwhile recreational fishing projects.”
