UNDER a very hot Tuross sun eight teams continued with the second day of the knock for the 2014 State District Senior Pairs Championship on the weekend.

Tuross Head had only the one team skipped by J Monks, Malua Bay had three teams lead by P Liberale, V White and D Ebsworth, with one team from Dalmeny, Narooma, Bodalla and Moruya skipped by P Pisanos, C Hockins, G Beves and G Piper respectively.
The result from the morning games showed that D Ebsworth won by 23 to J Monks 22, P Pisanos defeated G Piper 21 to 6, C Hockins won against G Beves 26 to 17 while V White lost to P Lierale 12 to 18.
In the afternoon session Dalmeny’s P Pisanos was up against Narooma’s C Hockins with two Malua Bay teams skipped by D Ebsworth and P Liberale playing against each other. At the completion of 21 ends, two teams moved into the final and they were P Liberale (Malua Bay) and P Pisanos (Dalmeny).
The final will be played at Tuross Head Country Club on Sunday at 1pm. All of the indicators show that this will be a very tight game and a good spectator’s event, so come and see it for yourself and add your support to the players.
Whilst the State Senior Pairs games were being played another Championship knock out was also taking place over the weekends of February 1 and 8.
Six teams from Moruya, six teams from Tomakin and one from Bermagui competed in the District State Pairs. The first round of the day had 15 teams competing and the number drop to eight in the afternoon. Four teams moved on at the completion of the afternoon’s game.
On Saturday P Cullen (Moruya) played W Thurlow (Moruya) and L Vincent (Tomakin) was up against K Franklin (Tomakin). At the completion of the game P Cullen won 29 to 17 and L Vincent also moved on with a score of 27 to 13.
The final was played that afternoon between P Cullen and L Vincent’s teams, with the State District Pairs Champions being P Cullen’s team, 21 to 16.
